VOL. II Retuned Carols|Late Fall 2025
“DECK THE HALLS is a melancholy but energetic song that makes room for those grieving or processing, as the holiday season begins. It is crafted as an intimate conversation among friends. Starting with tension, it ends with hope." —Olivia Frise
ARTWORK: Sarah Ament Design, 2025
Following the release of Vol. I in 2022, this holiday season I’m releasing another Christmas EP, Carols Retuned, Vol. II!
When we sing the same traditional Christmas songs every year, we risk overfamiliarity numbing us to meaningful things. Folks like the Gettys and the Indelible Grace movement have brought hymns and carols further into the “public ear” with a musical creativity that is at once reverent and courageous. Inspired by their work and driven by the power of the story of Christmas, I have taken traditional carols and created all new melodies and music for them. My hope is that my listeners would find their hearts reawakened to the wonder of Emmanuel: God with us.
Please enjoy this casual interview on “Collaboration Anyway”, featuring two friends and collaborators involved on the project. The video includes a couple samples of unreleased music and footage of the recording story. We discuss the challenges of creating in tight windows, laugh about the process of recording an album in multiple studios and states, and revel in the joy of getting it all out into the world.
Stay tuned as the songs release, one by one: “Deck the Halls” — 11/14 release, “O Little Town” — 11/28 release, and “Silent Night” — 12/12 release. To PRE-SAVE “Deck the Halls”, click here.
